Comments: Dr. LaPlume of Ragged Mountain Equine Services treated my 17 year old Arabian when he developed a severe case of colic. Despite heroic efforts on her part, the horse died. Through the ordeal, she made my horse as comfortable as possible, advised me when to consider surgery, and tried to keep up my spirits as my horse's situation grew more dire. Her autopsy the next day found that the colic was caused by a strangulating lipoma and that surgery would not likely have been successful. Through it all, Dr. LaPlume was both a highly professional veterinarian and caring and considerate person. If you are searching for an equine vet in the area of Charlottesville, you could do no better.
